The girls varsity soccer team and others in the Watkinson School community donated cleats, shinguards and other soccer gear for the Buckley High School girls soccer team. Buckley soccer coach Dino Aguado a former Watkinson coach, contacted Watkinson Athletic Director Kerry Boyle asking if Watkinson might have some extra soccer gear and a relationship formed between the two schools.
The Watkinson community collected 9 bags of athletic equipment and gave it to the Buckley girls team when they arrived on campus on September 27th. The girls then played an inter squad scrimmage which culminated with a pizza party overlooking the field. The Buckley girls were very thankful and presented the Watkinson captains Nora Fisher of West Hartford and Emily Byrne of Glastonbury with gifts from Buckley. Watkinson and Buckley hope to continue the partnership with the Watkinson girls basketball team travelling to Buckley this winter.
Watkinson is Hartford's oldest independent day school serving students in grades 6-12/PG. Their next open house is October 20th at 1pm.
