Glastonbury Resident Named CBA Secretary

Attorney Asker A. Saeed was installed as Secretary of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) at the CBA Annual Luncheon during the Connecticut Legal Conference on June 16 at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford.

Attorney Saeed is the Director of Diversity at Day Pitney LLP. As a member of the firm’s senior management team, he is responsible for further developing and implementing the firm’s strategic diversity plan and serving as a key thought leader, ambassador, and advocate on diversity, inclusion, and equity, all while keeping diversity at the forefront of all of the firm’s initiatives.

Additionally, he leads the firm’s efforts to identify, develop, and foster relationships among various external constituencies who are active in diversity and inclusion, including firm clients, bar associations, and affinity groups. Attorney Saeed also actively supports and collaborates with the firm’s Women Working Together and Day Pitney Attorneys of Color initiatives.

His activities in the CBA include member of the LGBT Section, and past chair of the Corporate Counsel Section. In addition, Attorney Saeed is a director, founding member, and former president of the South Asian Bar Association of Connecticut (SABAC) as well as the former vice president of the North American South Asian Bar Association (NASABA).

The Connecticut Bar Association is governed by a Board of Governors and House of Delegates. The House of Delegates is the primary decision-making and policy-making body of the CBA. The Board of Governors is the administrative board of the CBA, which includes responsibility for budgetary and financial matters other than setting annual dues. There are also seven offices, held by members of the Association for a one-year term, which include president, immediate past president, president-elect, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and assistant secretary-treasurer.

As Secretary of the Connecticut Bar Association, Saeed records the proceedings of the House of Delegates and prepares the minutes. He also provides the members of the Board of Governors and House of Delegates with copies of the annual reports of sections and committees of the association.
