Work of Local Artist Shauna Shane on Display at Duncaster Art Gallery throughout September

The works of Glastonbury art teacher and artist Shauna Shane will be on display at the Duncaster Art Gallery in Bloomfield throughout the month of September.  Shane teaches at the Glastonbury Art Guild. There will be an opening reception at Duncaster for her exhibit on Sunday September 7 from 4- 5:30 PM. The exhibit will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. until September 26.

A native of Montana, Shane has been a professional painter for over 34 years she is currently the, and began her career as Resident Artist at Yellowstone National Park. Shane is the Resident Artist at the New Britain Museum of American Art. In addition to teaching for the Glastonbury Art Guild, she also teaches at the West Hartford Art League and in her studio in Storrs, CT. Her work is displayed in collections in the US and around the world, including the Governor’s portrait in the State Capitol in Helena, Montana.

Whether of still life, landscape, animals or the figure, Shauna’s paintings reflect a solid academic training as well as the ability to communicate the emotion and unique atmosphere of a scene. Speaking about her work Shane says, “I believe one’s artistic journey is like learning to play a musical instrument; taking time and practice to master. What people call talent is better described as passion… My own artistic life is dedicated to achieving the skill, knowledge, and nuance that makes communication through a simple, well-placed brush stroke as beautiful and descriptive as the perfect phrase in a poem.”
