Work To Begin Again on Main Street Sidewalks

Sidewalks should be complete by the end of August.

Construction on the gaps in the sidewalk on Main Street is set to begin again next week, Assistant Town Engineer Stephen Braun told Patch. When work stopped on the $316,000 project last year, two gaps in the concrete were left that now need to be filled.

There is one 200 ft. gap in the concrete between the intersection of Main Street and Route 17 and one 300 ft. gap between Whapley Road and Hillcrest Road, Braun explained.

The construction work on the sidewalks “ran into some issues with the steep gradients and retaining walls in these areas. Extra design work was required over the winter,” Braun explained as the reason for the delay in the construction.
