Hi there! Welcome to Patch! My name is , your local editor here in Glastonbury. I know the site's been underway for a little bit now (you may have seen me running around town already!), but this video is our official welcome and introduction. Hopefully I don't come across as too stiff and awkward.
Since I'm going to be around town from now on, I should probably tell you a bit about myself. I was born and raised next door in Manchester, and (but for a brief stint in Boston) have lived in Connecticut all my life. I attended Boston University's College of Communication and got my Bachelor's in Journalism. After college I worked doing some freelance for the Reminder here in town (though I doubt anyone remembers the few stories I did!) Soon after I got a job with the Journal Inquirer, where I remained for more than five years.
Just a few weeks ago Patch hired me to be the local editor here in Glastonbury, and that brings us up to speed! If you see me around town, please feel free to stop by and say hi. If there is anything you'd like to see me cover, shoot me an e-mail.
Anyhow, there's already on the site that really lets you know all about how Patch can serve our community. Feel free to give it a read, but I'll give you the cheat sheet here.
Glastonbury Patch is a kind of virtual town square where residents can come for news, events, announcements and more. The lifeblood of a Patch site is the contributions made by our users, whether it's submitting a blog post to our Local Voices section or commenting on a story or sharing your own , events and announcements.
Patch is a national network of hyperlocal news and information websites where editors live and work in their communities and cover the most important news of the day. Many of you have probably seen Manchester Patch, Rocky Hill Patch or East Hampton-Portland Patch.
Patch is here to be a conduit for you and your neighbors to have a meaningful community conversation about issues affecting Glastonbury. You name it, Patch wants to hear about it!
We think you’ll find a lot here on Glastonbury Patch to entertain and inform you. And we hope you’ll tell us what you think about it all!
