all to Artists, Final Drop-off Date Today - VCAC Juried Multimedia Exhibit

The Vernon Community Arts Center will host its Annual Juried Multimedia Exhibit from May 4th – May 31st.  Final drop-off date for submitted artwork is today, Sat., Apr. 26, 1-5 PM. Artists who are 18 years of age and older, working in any medium including drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, and multimedia, may enter. No giclee prints or photography please. (The VCAC hosts a separate annual juried photography exhibit.)

Each artist may enter up to 3 pieces. All work must be wired and ready to hang. No saw tooth hangers please. All work must be original and must be hand delivered. (For installation or multimedia, please call with details.)

There is a one-time, non-refundable entry fee for submissions of $20 for one entry or $30 for up to three entries. Make checks payable to the Vernon Community Arts Center.

There are Cash Awards for First, Second and Third Place. For more information, please check our website at vernonarts.org or call 860 871-8222 (VCAC). The opening reception will be held on Sunday, May 4th from 1 – 4 PM. 

Jurors are Shauna Shane and Laurie Sloan. Shauna has been painting professionally for 34 years and is a former Resident Artist at The New Britain Museum of American Art. She has exhibited at Oil Painters of America, Allied Artists of America, Salmagundi, and Knickerbocker competitions in New York City and has received major awards from the Renaissance Pastel International, the Hudson Valley Artists and the Interior and Figure in Landscape Exhibits at Lyme Art Association. Her paintings are in collections across the U.S. and around the world.

Laurie Sloan is an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Connecticut. Her B.F.A. degree is from Miami University, Oxford, OH, and her M.F.A. degree is from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA and Rome, Italy. Her work has been shown widely in the United States and abroad, including recent exhibitions at the Manhattan Graphic Arts Center, Northern Arizona University, the International Print Center, NY, and Real Art Ways in Hartford, CT.
