Low Strung Cello Concert

St. Luke’s Church, (915 Main Street, South Glastonbury), is proud to present the return of cello group Low Strung in concert on Saturday, January 19th at 7pm (snow date, January 26th).  Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and seniors plus a donation for the local food bank and can be reserved by calling (860) 633-5057 or e-mailing patticole@spectralvoices.com

Breaking out of the classical cello repertoire and venturing into the realm of classic rock and pop, Low Strung performs concerts that are characterized by sweeping, innovative arrangements of tunes by Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Coldplay, the Who, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, the Eagles, U2, AC/DC and many more. Using the incredible versatility of the cello to extraordinary effect, these cellists bring a unique and exciting sound to rock classics, heavy metal favorites, and pop tunes.  Made up of Yale undergraduate students, Low Strung is unique and unforgettable.   They released their first CD in May of 2007 and the self-titled album can be found on iTunes and CD Baby.  Homemade refreshments will be available for purchase at intermission.

A portion of the concert ticket sales will be donated to Heads Up! Hartford -- a faith-based work camp designed to bring together urban and suburban teenagers from churches in and around Hartford for a week in June for the purpose of working toward the betterment of the city of Hartford and creating relationships over the urban-suburban divide.  For more information see www.headsuphartford.org.
