FARM FESTIVAL

JOIN HUNDREDS OF YOUR FRIENDS AT ONE OF THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF GLASTONBURY’S BIGGEST ANNUAL EVENTS: FARM FESTIVAL
Double Celebration - Special Tobacco Shed Dedication Celebration

This year’s Farm Festival will not only be an annual celebration of Glastonbury history, but a celebration and dedication of the recently relocated and restored Oak Street Tobacco Shed, which will be used as an education center and museum.  The Historical Society of Glastonbury will proudly present its annual Farm Festival, Sunday, September 15th from 1:00pm-5:00pm at the Welles-Shipman-Ward House, 972 Main Street, South Glastonbury.
This fun filled day will include historic demonstrations and games such as, “Age of Sail,” an 18th century game where kids learn to sail, colonial crafts and trades such as blacksmithing, straw braiding and spinning, rope making, and weaving with one of the best weavers in the country!  All kinds of animals will be at the Farm Festival to interact with, including horses, chickens, bunnies and goats. There will be other games and activities for the kids, such as bobbing for apples, guess the weight of the pumpkin, sack races, checkers, stilts, ring toss, soap carving and bowling.  Tours of historic treasure filled barns, sheds and 1755 Connecticut River Valley mansion, the Welles-Shipman-Ward house, will be offered.
Farm Festival admission and activities are FREE! General Parking is at St. Augustine Church, 55 Hopewell Rd. There is a path connecting the two properties at the rear of the parking lot.  Additional parking will be available across the street at South Congregational Church.  Handicap parking is at the Welles-Shipman-Ward property.
