School of the Soldier

The 6th Connecticut Regiment of the Continental Line will hold its annual school of the soldier and recruiting event on May 10.  Advance registration is required and space is limited.

The 6th Connecticut was originally raised in 1775 and is best known for a daring raid in May 1777, when 170 men left Guilford CT to attack a British garrison at Sag Harbor, Long Island.  They surpised the garrison, burned a dozen vessels, killed several of the enemy and took 90 prisoners without losing a man.

The modern recreation of the 6th honors the service of those men and women that helped create the United States by portraying the soldiers and citizens of 18th century Connecticut at events throughout New England.  The regiment is seeking more members.

To register or find out more about the 6th CT and living history, contact Richard Schreiner at 203-305-5815.
