Inaugural Run for Babies to be Held at Rentschler Field

On Sunday, April 27th at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, area runners can support the March of Dimes mission in a whole new way by participating in the inaugural Run for Babies 5K.  Run for Babies, sponsored by Cigna, will take place before the March of Dimes biggest annual fundraiser, March for Babies, the walk that helps babies to survive and thrive.

Cigna, a proud national sponsor of the March of Dimes, is leading Run for Babies in many cities across the U.S., and in its first year in Connecticut, hopes to have at least 150 runners participate to support of the March of Dimes mission to give all babies a healthy start.

“As a health service company, there’s nothing we like better than people engaged in a healthy activity like running to help a cause close to our hearts,” said David Figliuzzi, executive director of the Cigna Foundation. “We’ve been walking with March of Dimes for 20 years now and we’re thrilled to be able to pick up the pace with the runs.”

A fast, flat and timed 5K, Run for Babies will take place at Rentschler Field located at 615 Silver Lane in East Hartford.  Registration is available online at active.com (search Greater Hartford Run for Babies) or onsite the morning of the run.  Onsite sign-up starts at 7 am and the Run begins at 8 am.

Registration is $30 until April 16 and $40 after April 17th.  Registration fees benefit the March of Dimes. All participants will receive a t-shirt and awards will be given per age group.  Additional fundraising for the March of Dimes is appreciated.

After Run for Babies, runners (and their families) are encouraged to stay for March for Babies. 5,000 walkers are expected to participate.  Registration for the walk begins at 9 am and the event begins at 10 am.  To register, visit marchforbabies.org/event/greaterhartford.
