Charges Dropped Against Man Arrested for Warning of Gun Fear in Bank

Prosecutors decided not to pursue charges against Robert Gursky Wednesday.

The state has decided not to pursue breach of peace charges against a man who police said raised unnecessary alarm at a Glastonbury bank.

Robert Gursky, 50, of 245 Cavan Lane, Glastonbury, appeared in Manchester Superior Court Wednesday after being arrested on Sept. 12 on charges of breach of peace.

The charges stemmed from an incident where police said Gursky was in the TD Bank branch at 2461 Main St. conducting business when he saw a person with a handgun. He became concerned that the man might be planning to rob the bank, and tried to subtly alert the bank teller, police said.

Gursky passed the teller a note and said “gun,” police said. He then finished his transaction and left the bank.

Bank staff became alarmed and contacted police, who responded to the bank. Officers determined that the owner of the gun possessed it legally and had no intention to use it at the bank, police said.

They then tracked down Gursky and charged him with breach of peace after an interview.

State prosecutors decided against pursuing the breach of peace charge against Gursky during his Thursday court appearance.

What do you think?  Should Gursky have been arrested for the bank incident?  Prosecuted?
