Glastonbury Hosting Meeting on What to Do if a Natural Disaster Strikes

The town is one of a few in the area going over its natural disaster mitigation plan during a meeting on Thursday, July 11.

"Will you be ready when the next natural disaster strikes our are?"

That's according to a flyer Glastonbury officials have posted to the town website regarding a natural hazard mitigation plan meeting on Thursday, July 11, at 7 p.m. at the Academy Building Cafeteria, 2143 Main St. in Glastonbury.

The town said it has a disaster mitigation plan but it needs to be updated, and the public's input is wanted. The discussion is expected to revolve around how natural hazards could impact the region, Glastonbury's vulnerabilities to these hazards and what projects could help mitigate an impact.

Representatives from the towns of East Hartford, Manchester, South Windsor, the City of Hartford, and the Capitol Region Council of Governments are also expected to be there.

If you cannot make the meeting, then the town encourages you to take a survey on the subject.
