Glastonbury Police: Make Sure Your Jewelry Hasn't Been Stolen

Investigators believe some Whapley Road residents may have been burglarized without knowing it.

The Glastonbury Police Department is asking residents of the Whapley Road area to check their homes and take inventory of their jewelry and valuables.

A suspect has been charged for burglaries in the area between June 2013 and December 2013, but police believe some thefts have not been reported, according to a post on the Glastonbury Police Department page on Facebook.

The suspected burglar didn't leave obvious signs of break in, and items stolen were usually cash or jewelry that was not often worn. Some victims didn't know their possessions were missing until they took inventory, police reported.

Fifteen thefts have been reported in the area to date, and the suspect's activity at pawn shops in the greater Hartford area has led police to believe there were more thefts than were reported.

Anyone who finds they are missing items should contact the Glastonbury Police Investigation Division at 860-652-4267 or 860-633-8301.
