A woman walking her dog through a wooded area in Glastonbury discovered human remains Sunday morning.

A woman walking her dog through a heavily wooded area in Glastonbury got quite a surprise Sunday morning when she found human remains buried in a shallow grave at 9:30 a.m., police said.

The woman told police that she was walking her dog when the dog found the bones. She saw the remains, then returned home and called police, Sgt. Richard McKeon said.

The area, located just west of a dirt trail known as Windham Road and south of Goodale Hill Road, was searched by the state police major crime squad. The area is not readily accessible to vehicles.
