PD: Glastonbury Man Drove Drunk, Nearly Hit Cop Car

Police said a Brentwood Drive man drove into a fire hydrant while intoxicated Friday night.

A local man was arrested Friday night after police say he drove drunk over a curb, struck a fire hydrant on Hebron Ave. and nearly hit a police car that was on a traffic stop.

At about 10:50 p.m. on Friday police say a vehicle drove over a curb and collided with a fire hydrant in front of 120 Hebron Ave., nearly striking a Glastonbury Police Department cruiser while on a traffic stop.

A subsequent investigation led to the driver's arrest on charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to drive right.

He was released on $5,000 non-surety bond and is due in court on Sept. 23.
