State Police Turn to Public for Help Catching Bank Robber

The suspect fled the Savings Institute Bank and Trust in Hebron with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police release his photo in hopes of generating some leads in the case.

Connecticut State Police are investigating the robbery of a Hebron bank in which a man got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robbery took place at 9:28 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Savings Institute Bank and Trust, located at 115 Main St., Hebron. 

According to a police report, state police from Troop K responded and determined that a lone white male had entered the bank, presented a note to a teller, and demanded money. A weapon was implied, but not shown, police said.

The suspect reportedly fled from the bank on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, and police believe he got into a vehicle. Troopers initiated a search of the area and nearby police departments were notified, but the suspect has not been apprehended. 

State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad Detectives also responded to assist in the investigation, which is ongoing.

Description of the Suspect

Police said the suspect is described as approximately 6-feet tall with a thin build and light colored facial hair in the form of a goatee. A photo from a surveillance camera is included with this article.

He was reportedly wearing a gray-colored hooded sweatshirt under a tan-colored coat, dark jeans, a winter hat that was either gray or green, and dark sun glasses. The coat has a lapel-type collar and a zip front, police said. He was also wearing white Nike Cortez sneakers that had a blue swoosh on them.

Anyone who was in the area of the bank at the time and may have seen something, or anyone with information about the robbery, is asked to contact Connecticut State Police at Troop K at 860-537-7500 or 860-465-5422. All calls will be kept confidential.
