Travel Back in Time at Today’s Lunch and Learn Series in Glastonbury

Learn Glastonbury history through the experiences of the Welles family in the 1800s.

Join Glastonbury Historical Curator Lin Scarduzio as she takes her audience back to Glastonbury of the 1800s in the next program of the Lunch and Learn Series on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at the Riverfront Community Center.

Scarduzio will share the experiences of the Welles family as they prepare for a long, harsh winter. In the words of Susannah Welles herself, hear how the family butchers livestock, fills the cellar with preserves, and readies the tavern to shelter weary winter travelers. Find out what hardships might befall a 19th century Glastonbury family during the cold winter months.

The Lunch and Learn Series is free and open to all Glastonbury residents and their guests. The program begins at 12:30 p.m. If you would like to come for lunch at noon, please call (860) 652-7651 at least a day in advance to make a reservation.
