Glastonbury High School - There's An App For That

A letter by the Glastonbury Board of Education regarding the new app for Glastonbury High.

A letter from the Glastonbury Board of Education:

We are grateful to the Glastonbury Education Association for funding the new Glastonbury High School (GHS) mobile app. The GHS app, which was introduced just a few weeks ago, has already been downloaded more than 2,300 times! It is available for use on iPhone®, iPad® and Android™ devices and can be found by searching for “Glastonbury High School” in either the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Students, staff, parents, alumni and staff members are enjoying the user-friendly way the app provides access to GHS resources including: school and athletic calendars, a faculty list with links to email addresses and staff websites, and links to fundamental programs, websites, and documents at GHS.

One of the most useful features of the app are the calendars. By clicking on the “All Events” calendar one can see a listing of school and sporting events for each day. GHS sports fans can also access individual athletic team calendars and then quickly add games to their device calendars. Among the many helpful links, is one for the GHS “daily bulletin” which provides the school announcements that are read to GHS students each day during home room.

While all the information on the GHS app can also be found on the GHS website, the app provides the information in a more timely and more accessible way for those using hand-held devices and not sitting at a computer. We are delighted that thus far the app has been very well received by its users. We are also interested to see how rapidly it continues to be adopted and any additional ways it can be used to inform and engage our community.

Once again, we thank the Glastonbury Education Association for their vision in supporting this popular app.
