Glastonbury School Lunches Are Going Up in Price

Lunch will now cost between $3 and $3.50 depending on the school.

When classes begins this fall, Glastonbury schools will be providing some healthier lunches — at a cost.

The Hartford Courant reported that school lunches are increasing slightly for the 2013-14 school year, from $2.75 to $3 for elementary students and from $3 to $3.50 for secondary school students.

School officials told the Courant that the district will be offering some healthier options and, to avoid ending the year in a deficit, the slight price hike will be needed. Nearly half of all Glastonbury students participate in the school lunch program, the newspaper reported.
