<p>The Office of Civil Preparedness coordinates all government and citizen activities during times of natural or man-made disasters, taking into account such factors as manpower, equipment and community needs. When a disaster strikes, the office provides updates and instructions through its radio station (1570AM) and its disaster information telephone line. The office also coordinates shelters when necessary during disasters and has a state-of-the-art van that can function as a back-up communications system if the town hall system fails.</p>
