Local Teen Band to Play at International Festival of Arts & Ideas, Sat. June 22

Rolling Stone writer Eric Danton called Bonsai Trees -- three young musicians from Glastonbury and South Windsor -- “an exception to would-be teenage rockers,” and applauded their debut EP's promising start. This Saturday, June 22, Bonsai Trees will be performing for free at the International Festival of the Arts and Ideas in New Haven at noon.

Bonsai Trees features James MacPherson and Nick Sokol of South Windsor High School, and James Cryan from Glastonbury High School. Over the past year, this young alternative rock band has performed at several fundraisers (Relay for Life, Benefit for Sandy Hook and the Ray Beller's All Star Jam) as well as the Wapping Fair, Arch Street Tavern, Hartford Road Café, and The Space. Their YouTube videos have thousands of views and raves – and their first full CD is due to be released next month. For more information, please check out the band's website: www.bonsaitreesband.com
